VILLAGE OF KANEVILLE - ELECTION NOTICE

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Office of the Village Clerk, acting as the Local Election Official for the Village of Kaneville, will be open on the following dates and times:

Additional dates and/or times may be added following discussion and approval at the next Village Board meeting after the September 2026 meeting.

The Office of the Village Clerk will be open during the designated filing period for the purpose of accepting candidate petitions and nomination papers for the 2027 Consolidated Election, to be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2027, for the following offices:

Village Trustee – Four-Year Term
Village Trustee – Four-Year Term
Village Trustee – Four-Year Term

Additional information regarding filing dates and office hours will be provided following action by the Village Board.

Petition: Nonpartisan – SBE Form P-5 (for Primary, as applicable)

Number of Signatures Required:
1% of the total vote cast at the last preceding election in the Village for Village President.
Statement of Candidacy:
Nonpartisan – SBE Form P-1A.
Petition Circulation Period:
Petitions may NOT be circulated prior to July 28, 2026.
Petition Filing Dates:
For nonpartisan municipal candidates filing for the Consolidated Primary Election, nomination papers must be filed October 19–26, 2026 (not more than 127 nor less than 120 days prior to the Consolidated Primary Election).
Election Dates:
a. FEBRUARY 23, 2027 – Consolidated Primary Election
A Consolidated Primary Election will only be necessary if the number of candidates filing for a particular office exceeds four times the number of persons to be nominated for that office.
For example, if the Village of Kaneville has three Village Trustee positions to be filled, a primary would be necessary if 13 or more candidates file for those positions (3 × 4 = 12; therefore, more than 12 candidates triggers a primary).
If the number of candidates does not exceed four times the number to be nominated, the candidates' names will proceed to the Consolidated Election ballot without a primary.
